Making Garlic Cucumber Salad @ Home (Chinese Style Recipe)

Welcome to Asian Cooking @ Home – My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at a early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes.

500g Cucumber
4 – 6 Cloves Garlic
½Tsp Chilli Flakes (optional)
2 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
2 Tbsp White Vinegar
Salt To Taste

1. Finely chop the garlic
2. Cut cucumber into about 5cm x 1cm chunks and place into a large bowl
3. Add salt into the bowl, mix well. Leave to stand for 5 minutes
4. Discard the juice from the bowl
5. Place garlic in a small bowl, add chilli flakes, soy sauce, vinegar, Sesame oil and sugar. Mix well
6. Pour the sauce on the cucumber and mix – add chilli if you like it spicy
7. Transfer onto a dish and serve
