Baklava

Servings – 4 – 5

INGREDIENTS
(For Syrup)
Powdered sugar – 900 grams
Water – 600 milliliters
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
Cinnamon stick – 3 inch

(For Dough)
All purpose flour – 480 grams
Egg – 1
Baking powder – 2 teaspoons
Oil – 50 milliliters
Milk – 150 millilters

(Rest of the Preparation)
Corn starch – 250 grams
All purpose flour – 80 grams
Butter – for brushing
Pistachios – to taste
Almonds – to taste

PREPARATION
(For Syrup)
1. Take a pot, add 900 grams powdered sugar, 600 milliliters water and mix well. Bring it to a boil.
2. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 3 inch cinnamon stick and mix well. Cook for 8 – 10 minutes.
3. Let it cool before using.

(For Dough)
1. In a mixing bowl, add 480 grams all purpose flour, 1 egg, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 50 milliliters oil, 150 milliliters milk and knead it into a smooth soft dough.
2. Rest the dough for 15 minutes.

(Rest of the Preparation)
1. Make phyllo sheets as shown in the video.
2. Brush a good amount of melted butter on phyllo sheets before and after shaping the baklava
3. Fill it with pistachios and almonds.
4. Preheat the oven to 300°F/150°C. Bake for 45 minutes.
5. Pour sugar syrup on baklava.
6. Serve.
